While the picture related to this story says it all, I'm not going to let it stop there.
This pampered little celebritaunt, who's largest contribution to society and the entertainment industry has been this Carl's Junior Commercial. Poor Paris, if she had stayed faithful to Carl's Junior's burgers and hired a driver to haul her skinny butt to fetch one in a Bentley, she would never would've landed in the slammer.
Some people may think that Paris is just being used as an example the same way Martha Stewart was a couple of years ago over her stock foibles. However, Martha Stewart's actions never put anyone in danger, and Paris' drunk and reckless driving did. If her getting her license pulled and put on probation wasn't enough, the woman was stupid enough to get caught driving (badly) without her license. Paris isn't being used as an example so much as I think the court system is trying to teach HER a valuable lesson. In addition, I'm sure Los Angeles County Jail is no where near as nice as where Martha spent her five months, but still, it's only for 45 days. You do the crime, you do the time. Now Nicole Richie is saying she's afraid she'll be the next to go to jail. In terms of celebrity trends, rehab seemed to be the hot place to be at the moment - is the tide turning for that to change to spending some time in jail?
My predictions:
- Nicole goes to prison too - "The Simple Life - My time in Orange" gets produced
- Paris survives her 45 days - She writes a "self help" book and comes out with a line of designer "house arrest" bracelets that become the next "it" jewelry for the rich and famous
- Paris gets granted the right to order cupcakes to be delivered to prison. She becomes addicted to them, uses them as currency in prison, and also gains two pounds.
I don't know, it's just hard to be sympathetic. With all the money that girl has access too, she could be doing something really worth while with her life, from helping people, to traveling, to creating something. It's just a bit appalling that someone with such unlimited resources would choose such a shallow existence.
Harsh, but not far off the mark I think.
